Music Room

It is the goal of the Music Department to foster this creativity and provide opportunities for self-expression, teamwork and the development of individual responsibility while understanding how music contributes to the richness of our society and world cultures. The children learn to play Western Classical music on the keyboard and the guitar. Separately students are also learning to play Indian Classical Music on the tabla and the harmonium. Drums, Flutes, Mouth-organs, the Mandolin and the Violin are other instruments which are patronized.

Students in pre-kindergarten through grade X are given the opportunity to participate in a variety of musical experiences, both performance and analytically based twice a week.

By the end of The Doon School educational experience and course of study in Music, all students will have been given the opportunity to explore and experience music first-hand through performance, observation and classroom discovery.
